Rating Summary
Background
Long Tom: The story began when author Jakkal produced a webcomic entitled Black Tapestries, which ran from 2002 to 2008, a fantasy story about a human woman named Lorelei who is caught in a magical world named Raekarta inhabited by two races, namely humans and anthropomorphic animals known as "Kaetif", who despise each other and struggle for power in this world.
In 2013, a roleplaying community known as the Realm of Kaerwyn was formed, with Lorelei becoming the main character in this scenario. In 2017 Jakkal would use her character Lorelei in a webcomic based on this scenario.
ZenForce's note: Well, according to Long Tom himself, he started this review until he find out that he has no time to read the entire comic. So he asked for help in the forums and I offer myself to do it. Don't worry; it will not change much the review. I only warn that if you see one of my notes under the text (like this one), it because I left the original text of the original reviewer.
Downfall
Long Tom: By Chapter 16 the story has gone downhill to the point where the whole thing stops making sense anymore.
ZenForce: I concur with the statement of above, but the Issues 3 to 6 presents the first signs of this anarchist storytelling.
Story and Plot
Our adventure happens in Kaerwyn, a world formerly inhabited by dragons that has only one city entirely, that is devastated by the werewolves (controlled by Sisari, a dragon with a hate with the mortals) and their bite/scratch transmitted disease. This city is inhabited by people that were "randomly" was teleported from their original universe. Between these people are our six main characters, Lorelei, a blonde mercenary that is half human and half wolf girl that is our apparent main character; Endymion (Endy for short) Gaelin, a human magic (called Arts) teacher, now a lamps seller and is our ACTUAL main character; Niixa'ntaena (Niixa for short) Iiroz, an Xarax-hil (Raccoon-like people) psychic sniper soldier with a volatile temper, now the second hand of the city guard (actually now ex-guard) and love interest of Endy; Tunc, a weird-eyed weabo interested in Chaos magic from our world, now working together with the witch and temporally controlled by Sisary (and background character); Callie, a human occultist (aka witch) that is recruited by the leader of the city guard to search a solution for the werewolves; and Renard D'auregre, a short-tempered French human cavalry commander with a hate to the wizards, now the leader of the Town’s Guard (also a background character). The original goals of all of them was search a solution of the werewolf's invasion and a method to come back home.
To put it simple (and avoid spoilers for the ones that decide to read this), the chapters can be shortly summarized like:
Issue 1-2: Lorelei's saga
Lorelei is chased by two guards in Raekarta, her origin universe, until a random portal appears and shallow her. Appears in Kaerwyn, she encounters a talking wolf, the same informs her about her situation and leaves her shocked. She ponders until nighttime; she was attacked and bitten by a werewolf, the talking wolf defends her and it turns out that he is a fucking robot. Lorelei searches for supplies and info to battle werewolves, comes nighttime again and transforms fully into one, she encounter with Sisary, mental controls her and other infected to attack the town; she snaps it out easily and ended shooted by the doctor of the city, but survives. The doctor and a guard cage her, and both discover that Lorelei is conscious and rational. The doctor takes a blood sample; she tells about the woman in white clothes to the guard and at daytime takes her to meet Renard. Informs him about the incident and takes her to the quarter's prison to protect her, but when they arrive, three werewolves ambushes them and kidnaps her. The robo-wolf don't appears ever again, how a shame.
Issue 3: Endimion's Chapter
We meet Endy in Raekarta (other period) where is ending his class, arrives kate, the crazy ex of Endy, to confront him about the rupture and leaves. He goes to home with a friend and discovers that Kate break in his home to attack him, until a portal open and warps him to Kaerwyn. When he awakes, is chased by a werewolf to the tavern of the first chapter, he tries to keep it out with a force field but fails, and with help of a guard that was picking up supplies kills it. The guard takes him to the HQ, meets with Renard and explains the situation, until we meet Niixa and orders him to works with her with anti-werewolf bomb. The raccoon girl guides him to her house and when she sees Envy don’t agree with killing werewolves, she kick him out. Suddenly, another werewolf attack happens, and this wave is hard since they have guns this time. Endy modifies the bomb, takes it to the center of the battle, charges with art his sword and stabs the bomb. This causes an energy field that gives powerful headaches to them. Endy discuss with Renard about their visions of how solve the werewolf disease.
Issue 4 to 7: The Werewolf's Invasion saga
Endy sleeps in the street until is awaken by a hooded figure, the figures takes him to a Starbucks, talk a little and introduce herself like Callie and explains the situation of one his friends, Tunc. Tunc comes from our world of the Y2K time, drifted by a portal when he comes out from a library after searching some esoteric books. He meets Callie when he fells in the city fountain of the fear and shock of the situation and wets her. She takes to Renard and gets involved in the bomb's plan. Then she takes him to the Starbucks and explains the situation (apparently she does this every time a new persons is teleported to the town), until the barista transforms into a werewolf of pure rage from dealing an asshole client, attacks Callie, Turc defends her and ended bited by her. Both are saved by Niixa and the witch persuades her to save the newbie's life. Ended with the flashback, she asks Endy for help to search a cure for her friend a everyone infected. She guides Endy to the site where is hiding him, and discovers he escaped. Both search him and find him, this being a lure of Sisari to see her next objective. Both chain and seal Turc, then Callie ask to Endy to talk with Niixa to get the bomb.
When he arrives to Niixa's place, she is really angry about the damage of the same, tries to reason with her and fails. Then informs of this to Callie, takes his sword and casually collides with Niixa that was going to the witch's place. After another confrontation in her apartment, the bomb falls from the table and detonates again. This causes that every non-human habitant into humans, after a little retribution of Niixa and the wizard duo arrives to the place (Turc was cured temporally thanks to the explosion); they accord to discover how this happens. Fast-forward the investigation, Endy takes out the core of the bomb and the Sword activates the bomb. This not only don't reverts the first effect, but also transforms the humans into furries. Both go to the Starbucks to rest and eat, and Endy is confronted by the wizard duo. After that they continue to solve the problem, until Endy faints because he didn't drink enough saltwater (the species of Niixa needs consume it to survive, Endy transformed into one of them). While this happens, some werewolves start a ritual to be tried to be free from the disease. The lovebirds discover this anomaly is causing the problems and searches origin of it. When they locate it in a roof, it starts a battle. Then Endy tries to stop the ritual by absorbing the energy of it, this result in an explosion that throws him off the roof, the werewolves transforming back and tries to attack to Niixa and the wizard duo (they just arrived), but they was scared by Niixa in a magic frenzy mode, including Tunc. Then the girls realize where Endy is.
Issue 6 is too confusing to explain logically, but basically is a dream sequence of Endy (and Niixa too?) that was manipulated by Sisari to make him cooperate with her desires. There is a flashback in between explaining how they get in the situation, basically begin that both girls encounters Endy in a dumpster container conveniently full of mattress, he awakes and Callie updates him with the situation and Endy decides to search a job, getting fired of every one, and ending being homeless. Until Niixa and Callie asked for his help to search of a new ruby for the bomb, they got to the cave, Callie got lost, Endy finds a ruby and ended in the dream world. At the end, he awakes alone with the ruby in the hand, encounters Niixa and Callie unconscious, they get attacked by Turc in werewolf form, and Niixa detransforms him via electrocution, but is too late, Endy gets bitten.
We jump to the town's hospital, where Endy is caged for the inevitable destiny, Niixa informs of the situation to Renard; until abruptly that the doctor discovers that Endy has the same resistance of Lorelei, when this is informed to Renard (again), is decided to defend him from the next invasion. While the defense, Tunc is cured from the lycanthropic with one of the invaders thanks to Callie. But finally the defense fails and Endy runs to the forest but is clever enough to leave a crumb trial with a box of eaten chocolates that he found in the trash (the one he gifted to Niixa, to be precise). He finally encounters face to face with the white dress woman and she tries to convince him to join her, even cure him and giving back his human form. When that don't work, she uses his body to summon Fahrook, the dragon of knowledge, interrogates him about whereabouts of Aisha, the dragon she needs to complete her plan, and before the refusal she unsummons him and teleport Endy to unknown place. Niixa gets in time and enters the portal before closes, leaving Renard alone, surrounded by to the werewolves.
Issue 8 and 9: Sissara Manipulation Saga
Endy and Niixa ended in Reakarta, Endy’s origin universe, in Endy's bedroom to be specific. Sisari posses the raccoon-girl and basically leaves Endy without options but obey her orders, being the same encounters his ex, Kate. Niixa uses a illusion spell to cover her raccooness and depart to the city. We jump back to Renard, where is saved by Lorelei transformed in a dragon (I skipped her apparitions in others chapter for the sake of simplicity) and they get shelter in the tavern of the first chapters. She explains the why has that form now, and abruptly appear the wizard duo being chased by the werewolves until the tavern, and Renard takes down that barricade of the door to let them in.
Meanwhile this happens, we see that Endy and Niixa enters in the school's library, and with the excuse to search her ex, Endy starts to research book to encounter some information about dragons. While he is doing this, is contacted via the books with an entity that responds some of his questions about his situation, until Sisary posses Niixa body again and threat again to hurry up. Both got out of the library, and while Endy is reassure Niixa, conveniently Kate encounters them and get jealous and stalks them to a candy store, she confronts his ex, Sisara tells him to infect her. But he decides to teleport from there, although Sisana encounters easily, Endy decides to absorb the essence out from Niixa and let be kill by a spear from tribal furries to rid forever of her. For his bad luck, Lorelei and company opened a portal and rescue Niixa and Endy. The raccoon guy is fast leaded to the hospital and ended in coma. Most of chapter 9 is basically Niixa accompanying Endy and telling her past until being trapped in Kaerwyn. The only other thing that happens here is that Renard uses most of his magic to revive Endy and faint outs.
Issue 10: Soul Gem Chapter
After a revision of the doctor, Endy parts out and Niixa guides him to her apartment to retrieve his things, and then both goes to Sta- oh my god, how many times we will visit this cafeteria?! Anyways, both of them to the cave where Lorelei opened the portal to investigate the machine. An abrupt light and wind wave from outside the cave surprise them, and both of them come back to the town to discover it changed government to a monarchy... if we count monarchy an adolescent that plays Angry Birds in his tablet phone. When Endy tries to immobilize him, the kid transforms him and Niixa into feral raccoons and abruptly the collar that uses the "king" comes alive and expulses them both from the town with a light beam. The two lovebirds have some adventures to get back to the king's castle, and they discovered that kid theft the bomb and changed the ruby with a green gem to mental control everyone. This gem has a soul trapped in it, just like the one he has like a pendant. In fact, the souls of both gems are from two lovers that the kid separated via the gems. After a battle with the kid and the guards, Niixa deactivates the bomb and free both souls from the gems. Endy request that the soul don't take avenge to the kid, and although both of them access to this and revert the transformation of the lovebirds, this is useless because Renard sift the kid's head with his trusty revolver.
Issue 11-12: Snektre Saga
After the trauma of the death of the kid, Endy accompanies Niixa to retrieve recourses from the tarvern, because the town is unable of do farming due the constant werewolf's attacks, and anyways the tavern is magic and has infinite recourses. After a little chat with the innkeeper about Fahrook, Endy is called by Niixa to help to carry the load to the cart and comes back to the town. Then he has the idea to make the recourse travels become more secure. The lovebirds get to the cave from the previous chapter (also not mentioned for brevity) to get magic stones for Endy's plan. They come back to the city to inform about the success of the mission and the teleportation plan, and Endy pulls a prank to Niixa. Both then goes to Endy's new apartment and Niixa returns the prank back. After the authorization of the plan, and discovering he needs to job to get the gold wires needed for the portals, he eavesdropping that there a shortage of lamp's oil from an orca girl and gets the perfect job idea: selling artstone lamps. The business is goes so good that he buys a new home and store to sell the lamps. During the tour in his new house, Endy convince Niixa to think about her future, and she decides to quit the town's guard. Renard surprisingly takes this situation very calmly (well, as calm he can be), and starts to job in the store.
All goes like roses... well, there a discussion of the lovebird about interspecies love that not ended good, but everything looks right. Until apparently the artstones of the shop form an energy snake, follows Niixa and posses her and a girl that was distracted with her cellphone. Yep, there is another infestation in town. It spreads really fast and the symptoms of it are really similar to the ones to be drunk. We see that Endy is coming out from the Sta- STOP IT!!! – from a night snack until he encounters Niixa in an alleyway laying over the trash humming. Lamp guy tries to help her but she responds stealing a kiss from him. He finally charges her to his apartment, thinking she was drunk. After another attempt of seduction of Niixa, he discovers the infection and brings her to the hospital shirtless, because she burnt it. In the hospital, he discovers that the infection is more spread than he expected. After some interrogation of the fiancé of infected, the wizard duo and Endy tries to figure out what is causing this, the snake’s bite activates and makes her enter in goddess of destruction mode. Endy calms her, and discovers that the energy snake is sucking energy from her. This starts the hunting sequence where it ends with the group using Niixa to attract the snake and capture it with a seal, and it works, even leaves a great destruction of the town (apparently this happens regularly, so...). Finally, Endy takes Niixa to her apartment and wait her to wakes up, then they talk about their relationship, to end with a foreshadowing for the next chapter.
Issue 13-14-15 (3/4 of the last one): The Ahki Saga
Endy talks about Niixa's situation with the wizard duo and leaves, walks for a while until are ambushed by two werewolves and kidnap him. Niixa notices this and responds fast to it, but it knocked out by being hit with Endy's unconscious body. The werewolves arrive to the teleporter of chapter 10 and the Innkeeper starts preparations to activate it. We discover that the Innkeeper is dragon and wants him to die outside this universe. While this happens, Niixa wakes up and runs furiously to the teleporter's cave but is too late and the werewolves already entered the portal and the Innkeeper closed the portal. In view that the threats don’t work in him, she tries to open the portal without success, until a deus ex machina makes open the portal and goes to rescue him. The lovebirds discover that outside the cavern where they are there is a battle between two factions of werewolves, and the kidnapers one is losing. The duo tries to sneak them, but they are notices and they being chased. When they about to be trapped, Endy does a teleport spell and saves both of them, but ended unconscious due the great quantity of energy he wasted in the spell. So Niixa hided the body of Endy and start defending fiercely the zone, but in the end some of them sneaks and captures the body; and when she notices it via Endy's screams, she starts chasing them, but some of them starts a distraction battle with her. Endy arrives to the cell of the tribe, and meets Garrick, the tribe's shaman, and he tells him that Niixa has no opportunity with the Ahki (how is called the werewolf in this universe) people. And he is right, because meanwhile this chit-chat happens, the raccoon warrior encounters with the leader's clan and she starts losing. Then the shaman seals the magic of Endy to assure his imprisonment. This doesn’t last a lot, since the lamp guy discover that the chain is rusted and a little broken, and with a bone from his prison dinner he escapes, but apparently this escape is part of the shaman's keikaku. Via a vision, Endy discover the possible location of Niixa and starts running to the place. We come back to the battle, and the things don't looks bright to Niixa's side. The Alfa starts to walk away to gives his prey an opportunity to escape, but the raccoon girl's stubbornness makes her suffer more and the leader starts fucking with her mind with a spell. We come back to Endy, and he is chased by a pack of werewolves; when is about to be killed, he is saved by a werewolf girl called Ahkiketa. She guides him to the place where Niixa is imprisoned, but surprise, surprise; this is a trap and the were-girl results that is Niixa mind-washed and infected by the lycanthropy by the leader. This starts a initiation ritual for Ahkiketa, Endy tries to break the mind control, but is too late, and he ended licked, branded like an animal and killed by his lover. This is the end...
But that is chapter 13, there is more chapters! A pair of doggies buries the corpse of Endy, and he ended in astral plane, where a wolf goddess wolf called Murako gives the opportunity revive him to avenge Niixa, since she needs to rid of Ahkiketa. At start, Endy refuses the deal, but when discovers is the only way to save the raccoon girl, he don't see other option to accept it reluctantly. He revives, travels kilometers to encounter the tribe, trying to reason with this goddess of vengeance without success, and finally reach the clan. Tries to sneak in, but the canine's nose of the guards give him away and start a battle, until the boss got out of his tent and gives a warning to surrender. Endy starts to insult him to make him fail the attack, it works but don't help him much. When everything is about get worse, Murako insist to let her to posses his body and he accept without remedy. This transforms him into an avatar of the vengeance and the leader insists to have 1v1 battle to him. A Dragon Ball battle later, Ahkiketa interrupts the battle to help the shaman, and with a little of help, she stab him in the heart, but the avatar explodes and burns alive every member of the clan except for the mind controlled raccoon, that is exorcised painfully. The avatar opens portal to Kaerwyn and tells that his time is coming, but Niixa convince him that there is more avenge in that world, only to not lose him. And finally both crossed the portal.
Niixa tells to Endy’s void corpse the direction of the Innkeeper to gain time, and start to sprint to the town, to the Endy's lamp shop where the wizard duo was attending while their disappearance. She explains the situation, while Murako beats up and burns the Innkeeper. The tree starts a plan, using a ritual of the gods of the Xarax-hil to stop him, then Niixa goes to the Guards HQ to talk with Renard, only to discover that the Town’s Guard is dissolved since the cure of the lycanthropy it was discovered months ago. Lorelei discovers the destroyed tavern and runs to inform to Renard, Niixa runs when hear the information and gives the signal to start the ritual, while she distract him to give time. Lots of things happen, but the ritual works and Niixa becomes the avatar of her god. After lots of property damage, and when Murako discovers that can’t win the battle, she shoot Endy's head to damage where she more hurts. Niixa tries to save him, but is in vain: Envy died (again) and his body disintegrates... and I will stop here.
I could continue with the rest the chapter and the next ones, but from here all the story lost all its north, and is better to talk about them in the writing section.
Art Review
The figures boast realistic art, thick outlines, muted colors, but good shading and proportions and animation without overdoing it. The artist also knows how to play with panels rather than follow a rigid format:
The art style is really nice and all, and the panel distribution are very interesting, but if you look closely, you will denote art changes in the style. In specific, there are 3 types of styles.
The first one is the first three issues has little more rough art line, characteristic from an initiated artist, but the thing that most stands out is most of the backgrounds are real photographs or 3D models that has a heavy distortion effect over it, and highlights a lot, in a really awkward way. The drawn backgrounds are really rare to see.
The second art style it starts in the forth chapter, where the line art of the characters becomes more soft, and the most denoted thing is that it get rid of the distortion effect from the 3D backgrounds, which denotes even more is an model than before. The photos still has the effect, but they appear less than before. Also in some pages has gifs, which is a really cool detail. The drawn background still is a rare thing, but a little more common though.
The third and last art style happens between the pages 621 (heh) to 627, where it changes to a more… realistic style, say a word to describe it. The fur more fluffy, it has better illumination and the eyes are more detailed. All the backgrounds are drawn and it looks beautiful. Sadly, for some reason this art style only lasts seven pages until comes back to the second art style.
Nonetheless, what makes stand out this comic is this headland. Unfortunately, most of it is obscured with this strange combination of 3D backgrounds. I can be a little picky, but sincerely I saw other examples of this combination blend better, like The Amazing World of Gumball.
Writing Review
The first fifteen chapters are really fine. The werewolf siege has a really interesting execution and the unpredictable writing is on note. It has its problems; most of them are silly things, one example is the fact all the cast goes constantly to Starbucks. Even if is a parody of it, it looks like the author is promoting this overpriced cafeteria. But still is really good storytelling, even with how ridiculous is Issue 10, is still interesting. The real plot detour starts around in chapter 14, in the Ahki Clan saga, but even though has a little of sense. Even when Endy dies and is resurrected has a little of sense. Even when in chapter 15 they both comes back to Kaerwyn thanks to Murako posses Endy's body and has some explanation of the objectives of Sisari via the Innkeeper has a little, minimal sense. But the part where it broke me in the saga was the reunion of Niixa and Renard, where Renard comments that the cure of Lycanthropy, the objective of main cast, the plot of the entire story, the reason of why we are reading the entire comic in first place... was created OFFSCREEN MONTHS AGO LIKE IS WAS NOTHING...
No no no no... Even that shit is not the point where the story goes from searching the cure for the werewolves and escapes this universe, to defeat gods and escape this universe. That trophy goes to chapter 15's ending. Talking about it, let's recap the rest of the chapters:
Issue 15 (ending): Remember when I say that Endy died a second time and his body passed by the Thano’s finger snap treatment? Well, Niixa remembers the myths of her gods and is capable of restore his body and revive him, AGAIN!!! Then is warped out of there and encounter with one her gods, Rolatudan the Destructor.
Issue 16: Niixa basically becomes the angel of death. Meanwhile this happen, the Endy and the rest of the cast tries to figure out how bring her back. Lorelei gives the idea of going to Niixa universe and brings some information of the Erruxian's myths from the most important library of that universe. She goes to the portal machine; infiltrate the building; she encounters with Niixa's father, Neek'rhael the scholar; she gets some books and kidnaps him; she discovers that the butlers are actually assassins hired to eliminate the scholar; she archives to kill them all and come back to Kaerwyn. After some explanation of the situation, they discover that Niixa become Nheo Rolatudanzna, one of the Rolatudan's servers. After some more info-dumping, they discovered that their best option is to contact with Yanta the Preserver, and then Neek started to study the books for a method of contact. When he found it, Endy has to stay because the mark that has in his hand (appeared when he was resurrected for second time) makes an obvious target. Then Niixa contacts Endy via a dream, and pleads for help and tell him is the Blood Beyond, basically the chosen one of the raccoon people. In the same dream, appeared his mother and basically gives him encrypted directions for the mission. He runs to the portal machine, where the rest of the main cast is preparing the totally not stolen by Turc ambulance from the hospital. Endy arrives in time and tell them his dream, and all this is only an excuse to have the protagonist in the travel. They cross the portal; they being chased by a giant pirate levitating ship; they almost being killed but arrive to their objective, an invisible mesa made entirely of obsidian; they enters the temple; Endy blocks the door with force field meanwhile the wizard duo starts; they tried every object that is related to with symbology of Yanta; the barrier broke and the pirates enter; an raccoon guy fells in the circle and toss out the last object; Endy saw this and tries to put back; and... what a surprise! Actually is Endy the key to open the portal. Basically this freezes in the spot the pirates and for some reasons the rest of the cast it has no effect of this.
After this demonstration of plot armor, all the cast goes to the portal and enter in the god's realm. After a little sparring with THE GOD OF DESTRUCTION, Roaltulan realizes this discussion is pointless and starts to leave, until he discovers that Yanta is fused with Endy and starts a second battle, until Yanta put in front of him and starts to reason with him. Endy gives the reason of why has to become mortal again: the classic "I love her" one. At first he neglected it, but when Yanta gives the "I'm going to scold you all the night" look, he gives up grudgingly. Yanta opens a portal to the temple; they got back to Kaerwyn in the damaged ambulance, and Endy put Niixa to bed. What a chaos.
Issue 17: The chapter starts with Niixa awakening with PTSD about all the people that killed being the angel of death. Endy conform her and takes to breakfast to Sta- *rage scream* - After Endy leaves Niixa to talk alone with her father, they discover that the warps are also time travels. Oh my god, not the time travels, that fucks up all the stories that don't go about time travels... Well, after this unnecessary exposition, starts the real story of this chapter: a guy obsessed with iron tries to get some, Turc negates his objective (apparently he got a job in the recycling workshop at some point), the guy then do a ritual to get some iron, goes wrong and the metal started to posses him, this start an new epidemic, the main cast enters to stop it, Endy get infected, Niixa uses her new god powers to help, everything is solved (except there is a lot of property damage in the town, but bah, is another day in Kaerwyn), and finally the lovebirds goes to dinner. That's all the plot. There is no more.
Issue 18: The life of Kaerwyn gets normal for a moment, until some dragons starts to plan something. Then suddenly the scenario changes to into a university, there are no non-humanoid people, nobody remembers their original roles and they are working in something close to that roles, and the most important thing, Endy and Niixa don't know each other. This is caused by the dragons of before, to separate them for some reason. Of course this don't work and the illusion falls out, and the crew ended in the magic tavern (what the- it was not destroyed?), and the dragons with the Innkeeper basically tell that Kaerwyn and all their universes are computer simulations done by their kind, a war between dragons factions and that Niixa is the reincarnation of Aisha, the dragon that Sisara is searching.
Issue 19: The entire chapter is an infodumping flashback of the dragons telling the events before their kind started the simulation. It doesn't even worth to do a summary about it.
Issue 20: The group has to go again to the portal machine to stop this craziness, and... oh, what is this? Lorelei results that is the reincarnation of Sisary, and basically is the villain, and tries to stop them? What an unsurprising surprise. Anyways, Endy knocks her out, the group runs to the town, Sisary is pulling all the stops, or well appears to do this, and... well the comic is still updating it, so I stop.
As you see, seeing that suddenly the underequipped cast fighting against god it doesn’t makes any sense. If anything, the comic is suffering of an immense scale at expense of characterization. I sincerely don’t know when I stopped reading Realm of Kaerwyn to read a novelization of Kingdom Hearts. Actually, let me check something:
People that was inside of Endymon
- Fahrook (Reincarnation)
- Sisara (Absorption of power)
- Murako (Possession)
- Yanta (Possession)
- Metal infection (Half infection)
People that was inside of Niixa
- Aisha (Reincarnation)
- Sisara (Mind control, multiple times)
- Energy Snake (Infection)
- Ahkiketa (Mind-wash)
- Nheo Rolatudanzna (Possession)
People that was inside of Turc
- Sisara (Mind control)
People that was inside of Renard
- Soul gem (Mind control)
Yup, I can diagnosticate that more than the half of the cast has the disease of "Sora's apartment complex"... Wait a minute, if I don't remember bad, Sisari discovers that Niixa is Aisha just in the Issue 18, but in Issue 8 we see that Sisari possessed Niixa's body, multiple, multiple times. HOW THE HELL SHE DIDN'T NOTICED THAT NIIXA IS THE REINCANATION AISHA, IF SHE HAD TOTAL ACCESS TO HER MIND AND SOUL?!!! Arggggg... And that is the mayor plot hole caused by the chapters post-Issue 15, probably there is more, but my brain is melted from the enrage of the chapter 15's reunion...
Author Biography
The only information that I found about her is that she has a furry avatar store in Second Life. What I found out about the webcomic is the other thing. Apparently, this comic was previously published in Tumblr and, more significantly, Smackjeeves. When the site was created, the author stopped publishing in Tumblr, according to this update. I have a theory that she had a vision of that both will collapse in the future, and order to her friend, Ringtail, to create the site. This makes two survivors of Smackjeeves with Afterwar, if we found more survivors we can do a documentary, I mean it will not be the most illogical thing that was transmitted in History Channel. Also in her DeviantArt's description it says and quoted "I don't write Kaerwyn by myself. Each character is controlled by their own played (Since all of them are actual characters in Kaerwyn's RP)”, but this fact is totally contradicted by the Wikifur of the comic, that say that the comic and the roleplay are two different things. To this is added the fact that to join the forum, the site makes you questions about the characters, meaning you have to read the comic. My god, Jakkal, please confirm to us if the roleplay has anything to do with the webcomic! Anyways, I also found out in the same Wikifur that the roleplay started in 2001.
Conclusion
It's a shame that a webcomic such interesting story and good art went off the rails in this way. On the other hand, it is really impressive that this comic has lasted so long with good quality until it went off the rails. This usually happens in early pages/chapters. We could say that it is The Simpsons of the webcomics... Okay, that sounds forced, even for me.
Update: Some months ago the comic changed of hosting site, so the links of the review updated with this change.

Long Tom: There is more, but we're not an advertisement site.
Zenforce: I usually put all the links I found about the comic or author, but in this case I concur with Tom's decision... We not want to have more people there to complicate the story more.
